When accessing the router’s web-based setup page, a log-in screen will appear asking for the router’s password. The router’s default password is “admin.” You should change the password for security purposes.
These instructions presume you have a Linksys WRT54GL router which is the most common router presently in use.
Open Internet Explorer
Type the router's IP address
http://192.168.1.1 into the address bar. Do not click the preceeding link since it will open your router in THIS window. If you want to open your router AND keep this window open, RIGHT-click on the link and select "Open in new tab (or window)."

Enter the Network password. If you have never configured security for your router you may skip user name and type the routers password (admin is the default password) as the password, and click the OK button.
When the router’s web-based setup page appears, click the Administration tab.
Enter the new password on the Password and Re-enter to confirm fields.
