Below is an ASCII chart to assist in finding what to type to achieve foreign language/special characters.
To use the chart:
Find the character you wish to insert.
Look in the Dec (the decimal column as opposed to Hex - Hexadecimal {base 16}) column for the number.
In your application, at the insertion point, hold down the ALT key and ON THE NUMERIC KEYPAD ONLY, type the decimal number of the character.
For example to insert é hold down the ALT key and type 130, then let go of the ALT key.
If this does not work, your font probably does not have the necessary characters.
To find out,
Point to Start, select Run, type charmap, and press enter.
Find your font in the drop down and then attempt to locate the character you wish to insert. Clicking on the character will give you either the decimal number to type or a hexidecimal number. If the number is hexidecimal, you will have to convert it to decimal. If you have a hexadecimal number, find it in the chart above and look to the left to find the decimal equivalent. The decimal number is what you would enter to obtain the desired character. Send Larry email if you make it this far.
