From time to time the method we use to secure our mail server must be updated. When this occurs, you may have trouble connecting to Outlook.

To fix this problem:

Open your Control Panel (Start, Settings, Control Panel). You may also "run" control

Next, find the mail applet and double-click the icon:

A window will open, Select Email accounts:

Locate your account in the middle of the window. It will usually say Microsoft Exchange. It may also contain your name:

Select Change just above your account:

Do NOT change anything on this screen. Select More settings:

Select Exchange Proxy Settings:

Near the middle of the box you will see a setting that is offset from the left edge named "Only connect to proxy servers that have this principal name in their certificate."

Uncheck the box on that line only. Do NOT change any other settings on this page.

Select OK.

Select OK.

Select Next or Finish. Close any of the windows you opened to get to this setting.

You should be able to run Outlook and connect to the mail server.
