Crucible/Scarlet Letter Timed Writing

Choose one of the following prompts:

Throughout The Crucible and The Scarlet Letter, many characters behave in dishonest, manipulative, self-serving manners.  Choose one character each and show why each is the most despicable, unethical character, or morally undeveloped.

Throughout The Crucible and The Scarlet Letter, many characters are affected by the actions of others.  Choose a character from each who is most affected and show why they are  innocent bystanders OR why they have little control over their actions due to the actions of others.

In both The Crucible and The Scarlet Letter, characters grow and change morally.  Choose a character from each and explain how each changed from one stage of moral development to another.

You should use expert testimony and authoritative quotes for characters in the play.  Also provide definitions of the character traits and evels of moral development,  specific examples from the play, and facts and statistics from the community of Salem.  This essay is designed to be four paragraphs, unlike the state writing you'll do next week.

In the first paragraph, you must mention the titles, authors, and a brief synopsis or plot summary (Somebody Wanted But So).
