The Center for Technology is proud to have as members of its student body, valedictorians from West Greene and North Greene. Heather Dodds from West Greene is an advanced student in Early Childhood Education Careers class. In addition to her obvious academic performance, Heather is an AIM Scholar, president of the National Honor Society, a member of the National Technical Honor Society and a member of the Art Club. Heather plans to attend Walters State Community College and then East Tennessee State University and pursue a career in teaching. Of her experience as a student at the Center, Heather says, “Mrs. Carpenter’s class is great. I love working with children. Right now I’m involved in an internship working with infants at Asbury Child Enrichment Center and will shortly switch sites and work with
kindergarten children at Mosheim Elementary School.
Chris Gass, who is valedictorian at North Greene, is an advanced student in the Principles of Machining Class. Chris says, “This class has broadened my horizons of learning and given me the opportunity to learn skills not available at my home high school.” He was also interested in attending the Center because his dad was a student here when he was in high school.
Other honors include being an AIM Scholar, National Technical Honor Society, Breakfast Exchange Student for the Center, Noon Exchange Student for North Greene, SkillsUSA member, vice president of Keep Greene Beautiful, and vice president of the Technology Student Association. Chris plans to attend Walters State and then Tennessee Tech University in Cookeville, and major in either electrical or mechanical engineering.
