Health Science Study

The Center for Technology Advisory Council made the recommendation at their June meeting to conduct a study related to Health Science Careers. Following this recommendation, a committee was formed to plan a meeting involving health care providers in our community. These health care providers supplied information about the need for health care workers in

our community, as well as, the fact that national studies indicate a growing need for workers in health related fields. Noah Roark, Human Resources Manager for Laughlin Hospital, told the group there are times when the hospital has to advertise in newspapers as far away as Atlanta when trying to fill certain positions.
The next step for this group is to survey all sophomores in both

Greeneville City and Greene County schools to determine if there is enough student interest to consider offering a second Health Science program. Once the surveys are complete, a determination will be made whether or not to make a recommendation to the school board to consider this program for the 2006--2007 school year.

Chris Gass and Ronda Gosnell have been selected as the Breakfast Exchange students and were recently honored by the Greeneville-Greene County Exchange Club at their breakfast

meeting. Chris is a student in the Principles of Machining and Manufacturing program and Ronda is a Health Science & Technology student. Both students received a framed certificate, a
