06/09: Back Online

Wow I couldn't find my blog for a long time. The webaddress changed and i lost track of it. Here i am. YAY. We just got back from having the stage up in Huntsville, TN near Oneida. WE just got home and are VERY glad to be here.

11/05: AAAAHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

We are currently puppy sitting for friends (race buddies) of ours. She is a cute little gal but a total MESS!!!!!!!!! She is like totally wild. Part of the problem is that she thinks it is always playtime with my two dogs and I am not having it. So in the meantime we are basically just trying to teach her some manners. She has them when she wants them and I am obligated to teach her when to use them. I have been trying to walk her on a leash with little to no success. I went out and bought a training collar this weekend and I think we will see much improvement. She is so funny she gets herself in these funny predicaments with the other dogs. And the cats she hasn't quite figured out which cats she can just walk up on and which ones she needs to be cautious around. But she is learning that on her own without our intervention. She has the sweetest personality and her eyes are always bright. She will be a great dog someday but right now i would say she is in the terrible twos. Not quite old enough to actually have full time manners. :) wish me luck.

06/04: Knitting Trip

Well Mansi and I just got home from Kentucky, we went with Mrs. Lenker and her son. I think a great time was had by all and to my knowledge we are all willing to travel together again. This was our first non work related road trip. Now as odd as it sounds we went to Lexington KY to see a famous author and get our books signed. So we drove to Kentucky yesterday morning, spent a long time sitting still in traffic, finally started moving again, and arrived with just a bit of time to spare. We arrive at the bookstore to pickup our pre-ordered books ( tense moment when the man couldn't find mine) and then went down to the atrium to scope out some good seats. I will have to post pictures now because my camera cable is at school. We decided to sit along the back wall because it wasn't really too far from the speaker and it would allow more movement for the baby. Mansi and Lenker went to fetch some food for us (which was from Whole Foods, and was really a good smoked turkey wrap). Then we sat and waited for our speaker. Stephanie Pearl-McPhee is an author that writes about knitting in a really funny way. She is a knitting humor writer. Different I know. But we liked it. She was just as funny in person as she is on her blog. While she talked 90% of the audience was knitting (very cool). Lenker would have knit more but she was trying to get wee one to sleep (with no luck). Mansi even had her knit on. After she was done talking and telling stories we went to get our books signed and personalized. It was nice. Now we are home and were trying to figure out if we could get to see Stephenie Meyer. Not looking good for this tour. The closest she comes is Kansas City.
So as bizarre as this may sound look at it from this perspective, it is no stranger than me spending a week in Kansas last fall to drive around a parking lot in circles. :) take care, HB

26/03: Spring Break

Whew finally. I am really enjoying it this year. Mansi had her 11th birthday on Saturday and then Lenker had hers on Sunday. But i have spent lots of time. CLEANING, KNITTING, and READING. IF i could only figure out how to knit and read at the same time we would be onto something. I have a project that I took to Kansas that i am working on a little harder now, it has been on the needles too long. It is one of those things i am slow @ because it is something to carry with me when i go places. No hard patterns to follow, just whip it out and knit. :)
I have started reading Harry Potter again. I swear you'd think i would get enough. NOPE not me. It was a toss up between that and Twilight / New Moon/ Eclipse but since i have read those recently i thought i would go for something i haven't reread in awhile. I hope you are all enjoying your break. Those of you at the beach, don't drown, if you are home alone don't let strangers in. Enjoy

17/10: 2nd Nine Weeks

Well here we are in the second nine weeks. TIme flies when you aren't here. Of course that was last nine weeks not this one. I am back in full now. We are moving right along and right on schedule. That is the best part. IF we can stay on schedule now then it will put us ahead later. If we are ahead then we can do more activites and computer stuff with our chapters.

01/10: Day 2 of racing and home

Well its over. I am home. I came in 11th in the nation. I am an officially ranked national driver. 11th isn't too great especially considering the total numbers but I digress. Did you know that this is the largest sports car race in the world? It totally is. between 1200 and 1500 drivers. No its not the most prize $$, no there aren't the most fans, no there aren't 500 laps, but have you ever heard of a race with 1500 drivers? Its a LOT. it takes a whole week to finish the race and while racing you are only on course for like 6 minutes the whole week. It was a crazy experience and one I won't forget. I hope to do better next time I go and I expect that I will especially considering the fact that I have NEVER run a 2 day event before. I did come in 11th but i should have been more like 6th. I CAN get close to Curt's times but I didn't this week. IF i HAD gotten close to his times I would have been closer to 6th. Oh well. Totally bummed but glad to be home and sleep in my own bed 2 nights in a row. We got in the car and drove for 17 count them, seventeen, hours to get home on Saturday. TOpeka to Greeneville, almost 1,000 miles. Whew that was a long day. But i am back and I have pictures to post later, including one with beautiful purple yarn. :)

27/09: Topeka day 2 (first day of racing)

Well there are lots of things i could say about today but i will refrain because none of them are nice. I am in 10th place after the first day. While 10th doesn't sound too awful bad it stinks because it will take more than a miracle for me to trophy. They add your fastest times together from each day and I am fairly hopeless. It stinks and i was really hoping to be more like 5th or 6th instead of 10th. Hmmmm. oh well.

26/09: Topeka Kansas! 9.26.07

null St. Louis Arc
My lovely knitting! my lovely knitting

I know the arc is not in Topeka but i am posting from Topeka! Ok got here around 3. Just in time to register, get teched and watch a few cars run. I walked the course (got to memorize it), got in a fight with Curt, went to the awards banquet (for those who drove yesterday and today), and cried on the phone when mansi told me she was homesick and she cried. Curt is out washing the car. That is his pre race ritual. I usually help him dry it. Big effort I know. I am getting a wee bit sleepy. Probably because it is like almost 10pm in Gville. Only 9pm here. I will be getting up at 5:30 tomorrow. That sounds like fun huh? At least I drive frist thing in the morning. Found the cutest kitten at our hotel this morning. But it was still dark out so no pics of him. It rained a lot on our way today but once the sun came up it cleared.

25/09: Metropolis Indiana ? 9.25.07

nullOk First night we are in Metropolis Indiana, I think. Curt said it was Illinois but i am really not sure. we left town around 4:00 and headed this way. I had to stop at Eastview to say bye to Mansi since i didnt get to see her this morning. Can't leave without a kiss from my girl. Stopped in Rockwood at the Cracker Barrel for some din din. Then back on the road. 2 pit stops / gas / drink/ etc... and here we are. It is 11:23 your time and 10:23 my time. I am headed to bed so i can get up at 6 and be ready to hit the road at 6:30 or something close to it. I wish i had a picture to post but i don't yet. I could post a pic of what i have knitted so far but i haven't taken a picture of it. I will get one in the morning and post tomorrow. It isn't very big since i just started it today. I will also take some pics of the car all decked out. The signage looks good. Some parts better than others. Curt had a Get Well Rita! sticker made for the back. I will get a shot of it too. I will take several pics and post them tomorrow. Text is way easier right now since i am headed to bed. My throat is still burning like crazy. I have never "burnt" my esophogus like this before. Stomach acid was not meant to come out that way. OUCH!!! Had no idea how bad it was going to hurt later on. Should have gone ahead and had some water to dilute the acids. Maybe I will be able to eat a little better tomorrow. I sure need to or my energy level will be in the negative. Not good when you are on the road. The ice machine at our hotel is on the blink. that stinks cuz I really like some ice for my drinks. Fortunately I won't be here too long. :) No snacks here either. What a stinky place. It is not like it is a cheapo dive, just not well equipped. The name metropolis is decieving. Not really so much of a metropolis. More like a Miniopolis. :) Be good and i will post asap tomorrow. I have been told tomorrow's hotel has WiFi also. It better. HB
