20/08: Hamlet

To ask or not to ask...Got any questions? Comments?

28/03: What's up?

Let me know.

21/01: Questions about homework, projects, anything?

Write your questions or email me at housej@gcschools.net. EIther way I'll get an email telling me what's up.

27/08: How's the school year going?

It's still so new to me.

21/04: WHY????

is the third hand on a watch called the second hand?

do "fat chance" and "slim chance" and "slow up" and "slow down" mean the same thing?

is "phonics" not spelled the way it sounds?

do tug boats push?

do you press harder on the remote when you know the batteries are dead?

12/03: Do you know?

Gardeners have known for years that you can tell the temperature by counting the clicks a cricket makes in 15 seconds and adding 37?

What famous North American landmark is constantly moving backward?

TRY THIS! This will take a calculator, but it will be worth it! You can impress your friends and family by correctly guessing the amount of change they have in their pockets!

Ask the person to take his/her age and multiply it by 2.
Add 5.
Multiply this sum by 50.
Subtract 365.
Add the amount of loose pocket change, but do NOT count change totalling $1 or over (i.e., must be less than $1)
Add 115 -- final outcome:

Notice that the first two digits will be the person's age,
and the last two digits are the amount of the person's pocket change.

21/02: What's wrong with this "logic"? Can you fix it?

1. Along highway I-90 in Chicago is a sign which reads "Report drivers using a cell phone. Please call *99.

2. In a school gym, the sign reads "Students caught hanging from the basketball rim will be suspended from the gym."

21/02: Got Questions?

I've got one for you. Read this story. Can you tell how many people it's about? Can you tell what the message or theme is?
There was an important job to be done, and everybody was asked to do it. Everybody was sure somebody would do it. Anybody could have done it, but nobody did it. Somebody got angry about that because it was everybody's job. Everybody thought anybody could do it, but nobody realized that everybody wouldn't do it. It ended up that everybody blamed somebody when nobody did what anybody could have done.

16/02: WARNING

Several of you have "tagged" me, so I went to check it out. It's supposed to just be for teens, but all I had to do was change my birthdate and graduation day, and I was on. I was also able to go to other kids pages and look at their pictures etc. So here's the warning: IN ANY CHAT ROOM, YOU NEVER KNOW TO WHOM YOU'RE TALKING.

09/01: Question

On a busy street, you are approached apologetically by a nicely dressed stranger who asks for a dollar to catch a bus. He says he lost his wallet. What would you do? If approached in the same way by a haggard-looking stranger claiming to be hungry and unable to find a job, what would you do?
